More and more commercial products are making it into residential homes and are changing the way consumers looking at building new construction or renovating homes (or commercial spaces).

Due to a growing number of homeowners working from home, workplace products and technologies are being used in residential construction. Commercial spaces, rental prices, and long commutes, have made working from home more attractive.  We recently finished a project building a recording studio in a residential new inner-city home.

 The biggest challenge with this recording studio in the basement of this home was the residential setting and making sure the exterior noise doesn’t penetrate the walls during the recording process. Using the latest technology in sound proofing rooms, we were able to isolate this basement space so the homeowner can work without worrying about a neighbor mowing the lawn as they hit record on the player.

 Items used were products like; steel studs, double layer of 5/8” fiberglass drywall, resilient bar and rubber dampeners in the walls and ceiling.  HVAC, heating and cooling insulated ducts with commercial grilles, and fiberglass panels wrapped in fabric.
